Annual Message and Budget Information
From the Board of Trustees
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and ongoing support during these challenging times. We also wish to thank and express our gratitude to all of the essential workers. We’re happy to welcome you back! The Centereach and Selden buildings are open to the public and have resumed regular library hours but are operating with limited capacity and services. We encourage you to continue to use our curbside assistance to reserve items in advance and have them delivered to you in one of our curbside designated parking spots. We look forward to resuming on-site programming but anticipate that we’ll be offering virtual programs and virtual one-on-one appointments for the fall program season. Notary services, 3D printing, the reservation of museum passes, and the lending of the Library of Things collection have resumed. Please continue to check our website for updates.
The library’s budget vote has been rescheduled for September 15th from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Centereach building, provided that an Executive Order of the Governor does not require the utilization of absentee ballots. The proposed 2020/2021 budget reflects a decrease of 1.8%.
We strive to be financially prudent while providing exemplary services, programs and resources, to remain a steady local employer and as always, be your neighborhood library. While we are not asking you to increase your tax levy, we hope that you come to vote on September 15th.
