Our library strives to be an inviting destination and a center for lifelong learning, offering exceptional programs and services for all ages. We continue to fulfill our mission of enhancing quality of life by providing access to welcoming public spaces, supporting literacy and economic development, cultural enrichment, and family health and wellness. Our increased outreach efforts enabled us to build stronger connections and remain engaged with the Middle Country community.

This past year, the library became an official passport acceptance facility and launched the Community Legal Help Project, offering consultation and guidance on a variety of legal issues. Our Selden Building renovations provided a 24-hour drive-up return, a new lobby and updated public spaces for adults, teens and children. We created a Media Studio for teens to learn new skills in the areas of podcasting, videography, photography and music recording and created a Zine Club for teens to provide an artistic outlet for self-expression. The Seed Library was established allowing patrons to check out and share seeds and we held our first local authors showcase.

As part of our annual message, we provide a summary of next year’s budget. The proposed 2019/2020 budget reflects a .7% increase, which is below the tax cap limitation. Our goal is to be financially prudent while providing exemplary service, programs, and resources, to remain a steady local employer and as lways, be your neighborhood library. We hope that you continue to enjoy all that the library offers and we look forward to seeing you throughout the year. Thank you for your ongoing support.
